The main expected results are:

• contribution to the implementation of the Water Framework Directive, through the release of tools, data and good practices for the creation of a large-scale widespread biofiltering system;

• testing of a programming and institutional negotiation process for the protection and improvement of the water quality;

• environmental monitoring on the effectiveness of the ecotone strips and the filter ecosystems in a wide territorial context;

• substantial reduction of pollutants in the surface waters of the Pontine Plain;

• substantial increase of the biodiversity in the Agro Pontino.
